illustration description

at first glance, the illustration does not really speak "anomaly". it is just a beautiful illustration of a girl, with some flowers beside her face.
however, the entire piece was conceived under the concept of a fictional japanese disease, 花はき, or hanahaki- a disease that causes one to cough up flowers until their unrequited love is reciprocated- or, until they die. if you look closely after this information, it is a bit easier to understand, with the small details of the saliva on her lips, the bile on the ground, tears, flowers, and clear distress. it is a bit dark and disturbing- but that is exactly what i wanted the piece to be- because not only is 花はき an anomaly, but the concept behind making such sickness beautiful is an anomaly itself. the idea of taking two such contrasting ideas was... interesting to me.

the "anomaly" illustration was the main component of my design portfolio that was used to determine whether i got into my schools' design program or not. this piece is incredibly important to me because of this, why it was created. though it is not inherently 'momoyao,' it made me incredibly happy to see the amounts of support towards the illustration/my personal pieces, and i am always incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. <3
